When the Compass is visible, pressing SELECT will set a bearing marker in the direction the Cobalt is pointed. A dialog box will appear asking for you to confirm or reject the new bearing setting. Doing nothing or pressing the BACK button will result in no change. Confirming will place a bearing marker, visible in the illustration as a green dot, at the new bearing on the compass rim. A reciprocal marker (an orange triangle, not visible here) is also automatically set at 180¬ƒ to the bearing marker.
